General dentistry

The main goal of all dental procedures is to preserve the teeth health and cure those affected by tooth decay. Modern therapy and minimally invasive techniques allow us to retain all the healthy parts of the tooth.

Prevention is key in dental care. It includes diagnostics, preventive procedures, and tooth trauma and decay lesion recovery.

Prevention, oral hygiene, and teeth preserving methods which make them resilient and bacteria proof are the most important ingredients of tooth decay prevention. In our clinic, we take great care to educate each patient about protecting their teeth and applying correct oral hygiene.

Aesthetic composite fillings

Teeth restoration with composite fills is one of the most widespread procedures in dentistry. Composite materials aesthetically and functionally replace the damaged tissue and successfully restore teeth affected by decay and smaller tooth trauma. They are excellent for the restoration of smaller aesthetical imperfections, like changes in size, color, and shape of the teeth.

Modern fillings imitate natural teeth color with great precision and have all the important mechanical and biological characteristics. They micromechanically and chemically attach to the tooth with adhesives, securing the firm link between the fill and the tooth.

Aesthetic composite fillings’ advantages:

  • natural look
  • no need to remove healthy tooth parts (needed with dental amalgams)
  • micromechanically attached to the tooth structure
  • applicable to all areas
  • fulfill all aesthetic and functional requirements
  • sensitivity appears only in some cases and lasts very briefly

Aesthetic composite fillings have almost completely replaced dental amalgams, as they offer higher quality and longer lasting effect, thanks to superb materials and restoration possibilities with minimally invasive methods.
Depending on the tooth decay size we use one, two or three surface fillings

After the filling, the height needs to be regulated, to ensure the proper bite, and polished to smooth the surface and make it more resistant to bacteria.

Dental plaque cleaning and teeth sandblasting

Four hours after brushing plaque (a bacterial residue on the teeth surface) starts to form on the teeth. This is the main cause of gum inflammation.

Proper oral hygiene that involves proper brushing, interdental brushes and mouthwash can slow and reduce the forming of dental plaque. In time, plaque forms calculus that can only be removed in the clinic. Even though calculus cannot be completely prevented, it can be kept under control with good oral hygiene and regular removal in the clinic.

Removal of dental calculus is a completely painless procedure lasting for up to half an hour. The residue is softened and removed from the teeth during the procedure. It is performed with ultrasound instruments, strong enough to break the clusters but not enough to harm the teeth. The procedure prevents gum disease, gingivitis, and periodontitis that can cause teeth loss.

Advantages of calculus cleaning are preventing bad breath and removal of pigmentation coloration formed by smoking or drinking colored beverages. After removal, the teeth surface is polished to make it smooth and less susceptible to further forming of calculus.

Often the patients desire a sandblasting treatment after calculus removal. Sandblasting is a teeth cleaning technique performed with the machine that ejects micro-abrasive sand particles diluted in water. They successfully remove residue and pigmentation and restore natural color and shine of teeth. After sandblasting, teeth are smooth, whitened, without traces of pigmentation, and protected.

Gingivectomy/gingivoplasty

We often notice the so-called gummy smile in our patents. It is the smile that shows upper jaw teeth but also a large part of the gums. Dentistry more than ever takes into account the high aesthetic standard of the smile, which shows in the increasing number of aesthetic procedures.

The goal of gingivectomy is to achieve a harmonious and correct proportion of teeth and gums. A simple surgical procedure removes the excess or equalizes the gum height, achieving a more harmonious look of the entire jaw.

Local anesthesia is applied, and the results show immediately. After the procedure, it is important to keep the oral cavity clean and follow the instructions about food choice and the cleaning procedures.

Gingivoplasty restores the natural look (shape) of gums. This surgical procedure corrects inherited malformations and asymmetry, as well as serving a purely cosmetic purpose.

Depending on the state we use two methods:

  • laser treatment if a smaller correction is needed
  • a classic surgical periodontic method is used for the larger scope of corrections

Endodontics

Teeth with inflamed nerve (pulp) are treated microsurgically- One of the main causes is untreated tooth decay, allowing it to reach the pulp chamber inside the tooth crown and the root canals. An endodontic procedure is one of the most precise and most complicated forms of treatment. Preservation of the affected tooth depends on its effectiveness.

The main goal of endodontic treatment is to diagnose and treat painful state, prevent the spread of the infection to the surrounding bone tissue, to clean and fill the affected root canal, and to preserve the tooth. Thanks to endodontics teeth can often be saved instead of removed. Treated teeth maintain the same function as healthy teeth, and their root can be used for prosthetic replacements.

Patients often arrive with some of the following symptoms - a pulsating pain when biting, temperature sensitivity or swelling. There are cases, however, when no pain is experienced, even though the tooth is affected. This makes regular controls very important, as untreated teeth can lead to further complications, such as cists, granulomas, swelling, etc.

Procedure course:

  • x-ray of the inflamed tooth
  • removal of tooth decay
  • treatment of the inflamed pulp
  • root canal cleaning to remove bacteria and infected dentin
  • filling the canal with a biocompatible material to preserve the tooth from bacteria and infection
  • restoration of the tooth with the filling or prosthetic replacement
  • repeated x-ray imaging to determine that the tooth is properly cleaned and filled

The entire procedure is completely painless, performed with local anesthesia.

Periodontology

Did you know that periodontitis is the main cause of teeth loss in adults? Periodontic diseases are progressive, hard to stop, and destroyed tissue is almost impossible to restore. Periodontic diseases are inflammations caused by teeth firming tissue destruction.

The main cause of periodontitis are bacteria present in dental plaque. Plaque is a soft formation found on the corners of gums, firmly adhering to the teeth. Bacteria create toxins and poisons that cause tissue destroying infection. This leads to gum refraction and forming of periodontal pockets.

The first phase of gum inflammation (gingivitis) can be cured completely. But inadequate hygiene, irregular visits to the dentist, as well as bad genes, weak immune system, drug use, poorly applied fillings or prosthetics can quickly lead to the second phase of the disease - periodontitis. Symptoms showing the development of periodontic disease are swollen and red gums, bleeding, bad breath, periodontal pockets, gum refraction, and loose teeth.

The treatment depends on the stage and form of the disease. With gingivitis, dental plaque and calculus above the gingiva are removed. The therapy combines personal oral hygiene (brushing, using interdental brushes and antiseptic liquid) with machine cleaning of calculus in the clinic.

To treat periodontitis, soft and hard residue inside the periodontic pocked have to be removed. Then plaque and calculus on the surface of the root, beneath the gingiva are removed.

In the case of advanced disease, surgical methods are used. They aim to restore the tissue and bones and shape the gums to stop refraction.

Even with recent progress in periodontics and great results of the treatment methods, the main approach is still preventive examinations that let us treat the disease at the very outset.

Zoom Advanced Power

There are many different causes of teeth discoloration. They can be inherited or the consequence of frequent consummation of colored food and beverages, antibiotics or poorly performed dental treatments.

When enamel is worn out it thins, making the dark dentin color more prominent. We need to change the chemical structure of the pigment in the tooth tissue to restore the whiteness of teeth. This procedure is performed with active oxygen molecules that enter the tooth structure with the help of hydrogen peroxide and change the tooth color.

In our clinic, you can enjoy the quick and painless whitening thanks to the Advance Power technology. it is an effective and innovative system for teeth whitening that can be performed only in the dental clinic.

The candidates are all who have healthy teeth but wish for a more beautiful and shiny smile.

The whitening process:

  • examination and possible calculus removal
  • protection of the gingiva
  • applying Zoom gel and whitening with the lamp
  • applying ACP gel to alleviate the possible discomfort

The treatment lasting only 45 minutes can whiten up to 8 shades without incurring sensitivity! The results are immediately visible and last up to a year with proper care.

48 hours after the treatment, you should avoid:

  • coffee/black tea
  • red wine
  • carbonated beverages
  • strongly pigmented food
  • colored toothpaste/mouthwash

Further ways to preserve your smile are:

  • avoiding foodstuffs that can color your teeth
  • proper oral hygiene, twice daily at the minimum
  • regular visits to the dentist, every 6 months
